Season to Share: A Celebration of Giving Back
What is The Denver Post's Season to Share series? The Denver Post's Season to Share is an annual tradition that celebrates the spirit of giving back. It shines a spotlight on nonprofits in the Denver area that are making a real impact in our communities. In the 2023 Season to Share series, YESS Institute is proud to be among The Denver Post's featured organizations.
A Glimpse into YESS Institute's Impact
The Denver Post's Season to Share article provides a glimpse into our mission and the positive changes we bring to the lives of young people. It highlights the importance of social-emotional learning, mentorship, and empowerment in helping youth navigate life's challenges and build brighter futures. The core elements of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), including self-awareness, social-awareness, healthy relationships, responsible decision-making, and self-management, are among the lessons and life skills that YESS Institute provides to middle and high school students across Denver. SEL is what makes long-term impacts on youth. We've seen the impact in YESS students since 2001!
One of the key takeaways from The Denver Post's article is the powerful impact of mentorship. Our dedicated peer mentors work closely with their student mentee partners, providing guidance, support, and valuable life skills. Mentors receive training in leadership skills, connection, empathy, and establishing and maintaining meaningful interactions with their peers. This mentorship is at the heart of what we do at YESS Institute, and it's incredible to see it recognized by The Denver Post.
